Much like the war between the bears and gnomes in the past season, the Coral Buddies quest is a secret challenge. This means that it will never appear in the Challenge list in the Battle Pass screen, but you still receive a reward for completing it.
In thanks for helping the Coral Buddies, you’ll receive XP that will go towards the Fortnite Season 3 battle pass.
Note this particular challenge is no longer able to be completed.
What’s new? Chapter 3 Season 3 has arrived! New additions include Reality Seeds and Saplings and riding animals, along with the new Battle Pass, characters collection and map changes.
It’s a good idea to know how to get XP fast in Fortnite.

The Coral Buddies quest is a secret quest that follows these creatures rebuilding their civilisation after the flooding of the Fortnite map.
Due to this quest being secret, it will never appear on the Challenge list, meaning that it’s up to you to visit the Coral Buddies island and see whether they require assistance. If you do decide to help, you’ll be reward with a good portion of XP.
This quest also has a number of stages and, if you miss one, you’ll never be able to complete that specific stage. Instead, you’ll only be able to complete the currently available stage. This means that if you missed the Wood age quest, for example, you can only complete the Stone Age quest.
The Coral Buddies progression appears to be linked to the updates to the Fortnite map.
It first appeared on 30th June when the Fortnite map received its first update since the release of Chapter 2 Season 3. During this stage, the Coral Buddies civilisation was experiencing its Wood Age.
This civilisation progressed to the Stone Age on 21st July when, after receding water levels, the map received its second update of the season.
Due to this we can assume that the Coral Buddies quest will continue to update every time there’s a major update to the map, until the quest itself is finished.
Thankfully they’ve chosen a rather out-of-the-way island in B1, which is north of the Sharky Shell and west of the lighthouse. This island is so safe in fact that it doesn’t actually appear on the Fortnite map.
The easiest way to find this island is to head to B1 using your glider straight after you’ve jumped from the bus. This will give you the best overview of the world, allowing you to easily spot the island.
In the air, head towards Sharky Shell and the Coral Buddies island will be visible just north of this landmark.
Now all you have to do is land safely and find what part of the Coral Buddies civilisation needs help developing.
To help them, you need to gather 100 Metal.
The best place to find this metal is the abandoned helicopter pad at Sharky Shell; all you have to do is harvest the metal barriers around this helicopter pad.
Once you’ve collected this metal, head back to the Coral Buddies island and help them build their rocket. The rocket will now blast into space and you’ll receive 25,000 XP.
Fortnite Chapter 4 Chapter 1 is here, complete with a new augments system, the coming arrival of Geralt and the Ageless Champion to beat! We’ve also got a present list for Winterfest and Cozy Lodge and pizza slice locations.
Meanwhile, learn how to get XP fast, earn the Victory Umbrella, find character locations and earn a Victory Crown.
Doing this allowed the Coral Buddies to build their pyramid and brought you 25,000 XP.
The Wood age for the Coral Buddies may have passed, but when it occurred the Coral Buddies could be found on a small wooden structure on their island.
To help the Coral Buddies out, you needed to gather 100 Wood from the surrounding trees. Once you donated this wood to the Coral Buddies, you would receive 25,000 XP.
Thank you to InTheLittleWood from YouTube for this Wood age quest footage.
